Isolate Iran

The House approved a bill that will Isolate Iran in where they will cut off its oil and gas supply. To do this congress will attack foreign oil companies. In my classmates blog they wrote an editorial on Paul Richter's piece in the LA Times. Giving details of the bill as well as President Obama's idea. I agree with my classmate that this is not a good idea for the Obama administration. She points out it might not effect the higher ups of Iran's nuclear department where I think it would have a effect just not a massive effect on them. Overall though I do agree with her spending all that money is not a good idea with all the different econimc problems we are already facing.

That was a good post Kristen.

Health Care Reform

With the growing problems today in American Health Care ranging from people can't afford it to people don't wanna help pay or just the lack of coverage for the money. Health Care Reform is one the hottest topics in the government today. With so many different options in place such as 1 Government pay for health care 2 Higher Income pay extra tax 3 Require jobs to include health insurance plans to many others. Each one has its own upside and downside like everything else but one might have more upside with little effect to today's life. Having the higher income family's that take $500,000 to $1 million and the $250,00 to $500,000 dollar a year family's paying higher taxes would not have a great effect on modern life says some Americans. The Senate has imposed different tax increases for different class of family's to the payroll tax of Medicare Jill Lawrence has come up with the thought it might work as to where she gives different statements an so forth from different representatives and columnist. But is she right? I believe for the most part she is the Government has to get more involved but it does not need to control it for instance a government health plan. That would cause Insurance companies probably to lose many customers resulting in many different things ranging from job loss to hurting the economy. Raisng taxes could benefit without much effect the rich would still be rich we wouldn't be bankrupting them. Many others options are available but for now this one seems to be one the best.

Bernie Madoff Showdown

Bernie Madoff was sentenced to 150 years in prison for his swindling money crimes in June of this year he is now serving in a federal penitentiary in North Carolina. He was involved in fight in which according to witnesses he won, but Jessica Pressler of the New York Times believes the fight was fixed. The two brawlers were later seen together which makes her and others believe it was fixed. Her post tells and shows the American public that maybe Madoff is a man that deserves to be in prison for his sentence even though some disagree. I agree when your in prison its all about respect and fighting is one way to gain it of fellow inmates. I mean when you swindle 65 million I'm sure you stashed some of it where the government cant find it. So maybe Madoff does deserve the sentence cause obviously he can still swindle things even when he's in prison.

NATO's Afghanistan Strategy

The alliance chief Mr. Rasmussen I believe is right by siding with Gen Stanley A. McChrystal they both believe that there should not be an "Exit Strategy" in Afghanistan. While president Obama is leaning towards that strategy I believe it's not in the best interest of the war on terror. If the U.S. was to adopt the "Exit Strategy" an remove troops what is that saying to the nations we convinced to help us fight the war. Turning our backs now is not the solution we have to remain there till the Afghan goverment has full control. With all of the money already spent and the soldiers that lost thier lives for this war we must continue the fight against terror. If the U.S. pulled out the main an biggest supporter for Afghanistan would be lost. Even if it takes longer than expected the cost would be much greater if we pull out an lose all progress we have made. The terrorist would see a lack of commitment of the stratgy we have stated. If Afghanistan becomes stable then it would show that terrorist do not control what they think they can. We must continue the fight because Afghanistan is the main piece of the equation in the war on terror. Posted by Mr Rasmussen in The Washington Post.

More Troops?

The war on terror is one of the biggest task our nation is currently facing. Top U.S. generals an military officials say we need more troops to protect an train Afghan forces. But do we really need to send more troops every time we hear of new developments its failures of what the gov tried to do over there. Also they want to give money to lure some insurgents to switch sides are they serious? If we give them money to change sides how do we know that they really did? What if they don't then that means we just gave money for supplies to the people we are fighting. I think this is a stupid idea an that it could really cost a lot even though the war is already cost a fortune. Don't you think that the failing economy is more important than trying to bride the enemy. It makes me wonder if the government even has a plan anymore. I encourage you to read this article because our tax payers money may just get sent to bad uses.
